Launch of picture book, ‘Gilbert’s Cake’

‘Gilbert’s Cake’ is a powerful new picture book written by South Australian author Emily Mir and illustrated by Helen Nieuwendijk.

It is described as a tender meditation on grief, love, and family, and was inspired by the Mir’s experience of stillbirth and raising two subsequent children.

The book was launched at Fleurieu Arthouse in McLaren Vale on Sunday, August 10.
